Street Style: Peep-toe lace-up booties

Curvy street style proves just how well you can rock your curves with chic pieces and accessories in any style. Talking about chic style pieces, first off are ankle boots (aka booties). Specifically, peep-toe booties are the most versatile style of booties out there. Even more versatile and chic are lace-up peep-toe booties. However, choosing the right clothing items to complement your chosen pair of booties can make all of the difference.

Trend Alert: Mirrored aka Reflective Sunglasses

Secondly, mirrored sunglasses are also a very chic style piece to make an outfit stand out. Also referred to as reflector sunglasses, this was a famous 90s trend. They add a space-age vibe to any classic look giving an overall urban and futuristic feel.

The 90s Choker trend is back

Another chic style piece is the choker. Also a 90s trend, the choker when paired up with the off-shoulder style, presents a fashion-forward street look that doesn’t feel busy or overbearing.

Off-Shoulder trend still reigns this season

Interestingly, while the off-shoulder style ranked in among the top style trends last season, its reign continued this season as well. Therefore, imagine an outfit bringing all these style pieces together for an effortless street style look?

Curvy Street Style for Born-House

This past weekend, I was heading out to a “born house” that requested a dress code. Specifically, all guests had to wear blues jeans and a white top. All I had readily available in my closet was my blue skinny jeans! Of course, that goes without saying because who doesn’t own a pair of blue skinny jeans? But then came the challenge! What style top to wear, which shoes and accessories etc. for a chic curvy street style look.

Styling Skinny Jeans and Off-Shoulder Top

Rummaging through my closet, I came across this white off-shoulder top from ASOS I had bought for $16. The nonchalant feel of the top was ideal since a “born house” is not your typical dressy event. Teaming this top with my skinny jeans made for a breezy yet chic style creating a classic-meets-urban look. The long fluted sleeves of the top allowed me to show skin only at my neckline, which was very flattering.

Styling Booties with Skinny Jeans

For my booties, I realized that if you wear the wrong style of booties, the effect can be more clunky than chic. Therefore, the trick to wearing booties with skinny jeans is to wear a pair that fits you snugly around the ankles. This lace-up number, therefore, was perfect. It is good to note that booties with wide tops will visually cut you off at the ankles making you look stout and compact. Therefore, heels are always essential to give you a slender look and some flattering height. The chunky heels on this pair served that purpose which was great!

Final Look

Finally, I accessorized the look with a ’90s-inspired velvet choker and a velvet sequined clutch. The choker was the perfect accessory for my off-shoulder blouse which is a trend that is usually very challenging to accessorize. Matching my choker with my clutch and my booties helped to tie the look together. Meanwhile, the sequins on my clutch and my reflector shades just added a lil’ something something!

I think I didn’t do too badly with this outfit. What do you think? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
