Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM)
Breast Cancer Awareness month is here and we are dishing out some style inspiration to all you pink lovers. October is breast cancer awareness month and sets the rails for an annual international health campaign to increase awareness of the disease. In fact, major breast cancer charities all over the world use the month of October to raise funds for research into the cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of breast cancer. The October campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer.
Pink is Breast Cancer Awareness Color
If you didn’t know, pink is the color for breast cancer awareness! I know the guys are now rolling their eyes saying, “pink is for girls”. Not by a long shot! That is so cliché! You can rock pink as a guy too. In fact, a guy in pink is very confident and sexy. Think of a grey suit with pink shirt or white shirt and a pink tie or bowtie… ok! That’s a post for another day!
Encourage every woman you know to get tested
Back to this pink inspiration post! As we begin the month of October, we are committed to raising awareness all month through fashion! So, ladies, please go and get checked. Better safe than sorry! Indeed, I am certain that every woman knows someone who has suffered from breast cancer. In fact, I can bet all of our lives (male and female), have been touched by breast cancer in some way. No one can escape from it as even celebrities are not spared. Think of Sheryl Crow, Robin Roberts, Cynthia Nixon, and the style icon and fashion designer Betsey Johnson! It can happen to anyone of us or someone you know! So please, please go and get checked!
Dr. Rosemary Agbor is our Pink Style Inspiration
To lead our awareness campaign this October, our girl Rosemary aka Rosa Agbor started out with a bang! Did I say, Dr. Rosa Agbor?!!! Yes, indeed, Rosa holds a Ph.D. in Education and is definitely the right muse when it comes to awareness. We all know scholars are all about educating society on various issues. Today, she chooses to educate us all about breast cancer by wearing pink.
Rosa’s outfit features a stunning pink dress with three quarter bell sleeves. The solid pink hue makes a very bold and powerful statement about the seriousness of this campaign. The pink sheath dress hugs her curves in all the right places for a very feminine and chic look. Meanwhile, the three quarter bell sleeves add an interesting style detail for some intrigue. This sleeve style is also very practical especially as we transition from warm to cold weather. Dr. Agbor doesn’t stop there, her make up is equally bold with pink eyeshadow and some sexy pink lips! Yup, this is how we do pink right.
Of course, to relieve the eyes a little bit before we start thinking of bubble gum, Rosa accessorizes with black. Impeccably, she dons a black pointy toe pump and matching black statement satchel for a stunning cohesive look. Did you notice the pale-pink sunglasses too? What better way of spreading awareness than by looking good?
